Art Therapy

The old saying “a picture is worth a thousand words” reflects the powerful effect that the arts and creative expression have on human understanding and communication. Studies show that expression through art can help with depression, anxiety and stress. Art has also been linked to improved memory and reasoning in ageing adults.

Art Therapy uses the power of the arts and different modes of communication to get people to open up and engage with their therapy in new ways. This is more than an art class. Our studio offers non-clinical Art Therapy sessions for those searching for a relaxing atmosphere with therapeutic art making.

In an Art Therapy session, you can expect to do painting, drawing, finger painting, working with clay, carving, sculpting, doodling, scribbling and making collages.

PRIVATE 1:1 SESSIONS

Art Therapy is a combination of talk therapy and art making. With the help of art materials we can express words and ideas, feel emotions, express and notice how we feel and think. We’ll make space for all of it to unfold and be. We’ll make space to breathe, to make a mess, to ask questions, to feel and move through towards a different sort of understanding.

ONLINE

Online sessions are held on Zoom. Once we’ve received your booking we will reach out by email with the information you’ll need to prepare for the session, including Zoom details. With these sessions taking place online you will need to provide your own art materials. This is something that we can talk about in more detail via email prior to your first session.

IN-STUDIO

Our studio is currently being renovated, more information soon.

These sessions can be either outdoor (in your yard) or indoor (in your home). Maybe you’re living with challenges related to mobility (disability, pain, transportation), a challenging schedule or maybe you have a beautiful home and don’t want to leave it!
