Music Therapy

Music Therapy is the use of music to accomplish individualised goals such as reducing stress, improving mood and self-expression. It is an evidence based therapy well established in the health community. While the term “Music Therapy” may make you think it’s similar to a music lesson that is not actually the case.

Our studio offers non-clinical Music Therapy sessions for those searching for a comfortable, stress free environment.

In a Music Therapy session, you can expect to: listen, sing, play instruments, or compose music.

PRIVATE 1:1 SESSIONS

Music Therapy is a combination of talk therapy with music involved. Music can call up bottled up emotions that may then be released, it can lessen feelings of isolation, improved mood, decrease depression and anxiety. Music can also affect the body by changing your heart rate, lowering blood pressure and breathing rate. Research in music therapy supports its effectiveness in six areas: psychological, emotional, physical, cognitive, spiritual and social. It also helps with pain management, asthma episodes and it can even lessen the effects of dementia.

ONLINE

Online sessions are held on Zoom. Once we’ve received your booking we will reach out by email with the information you’ll need to prepare for the session, including Zoom details. With these sessions taking place online you will need to provide your own musical instruments but depending on the sessions you could just use your voice. This is something that we can talk about in more detail via email prior to your first session.

IN-STUDIO

Our studio is currently being renovated, more information soon.

These sessions can be either outdoor (in your yard) or indoor (in your home). Maybe you’re living with challenges related to mobility (disability, pain, transportation), a challenging schedule or maybe you have a beautiful home and don’t want to leave it! With these sessions the musical instruments will be provided by us.
